How We Operate
How We Operate
As the first nonprofit solar panel assembly factory focused on sustainable energy and social equity, CHERP reinvests profits locally, prioritizing low-income households. Research shows that these households reinvest savings from lower utility bills back into their communities, driving economic growth and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Our Nonprofit Social Enterprise Model
CHERP operates under IRS nonprofit status, partnering with CHERP Solar Enterprises to engage in for-profit ventures. We sell American-made solar panels to local installers, funding initiatives that provide solar solutions to low-income households. Our programs include:
Sustainable Clean Tech Microfactory & Workforce Development:
We hire and train individuals facing employment barriers, such as veterans and at-risk youth, to assemble solar panels, fostering job readiness and well-being.
Microfactory Replication:
We assist other nonprofits in establishing microfactories nationwide, creating a network dedicated to sustainable energy production and equitable workforce development.
