Our founder, Devon Hartman, envisioned nonprofit-owned solar factories operating in many of America’s most disinvested communities. He saw these factories’ mission as stimulating local economies, delivering training and career opportunities to local residents, and generating profits that are reinvested in nonprofit programming and electricity subsidies for low-income community members.
CHERP is committed to realizing Devon Hartman's vision by offering a comprehensive suite of services designed to empower communities and the individuals within them.
At the heart of CHERP’s mission is our Design Build and Consulting Services, which assist nonprofits in establishing and operating solar assembly factories.
These factories provide:
-
Renewable Energy Solutions: Our solar panels deliver sustainable energy to local residents, businesses, and institutions.
-
Net Income Utilization: The income generated by these nonprofits is reinvested to: expand community programs for economically disadvantaged residents. Create community solar projects that help reduce electricity bills, enabling residents to allocate their savings towards local goods and services.
CHERP also offers additional consulting services that include:
-
Financing Solutions: We help raise and organize the necessary financing for building and operating both the factories and community solar projects.
-
Collective Purchasing: We facilitate the collaborative procurement of materials and equipment among factories and our partner, AMPS.
-
Market Opportunities: Our services create marketing and sales avenues for factories aiming to enter larger national markets.
